How it works

Start with the foundation.

BanglaChain is a Layer 1 network — the base layer that everything else in the ecosystem is built on. Here's how the stack fits together, and the principles that guide how it's researched and engineered.

The stack

Four layers, one network.

Each layer depends on the one below it. Select a layer to see what it does.

Applications

The products people actually use — wallets, tools and services built on top of the network. This is where the ecosystem categories on the Ecosystem page eventually live.

General context — what "Layer 1" means

In blockchain terminology, a "Layer 1" is the base network itself — the system directly responsible for recording, ordering and validating transactions. Smart contracts, applications, and any "Layer 2" scaling systems are built on top of it, but they all ultimately depend on the Layer 1 for security and finality.

This is a general definition, not a description of features BanglaChain has confirmed. BanglaChain's specific technical design — its consensus mechanism, transaction throughput, and smart-contract environment — is still under research and engineering, and will be published as it's finalized.

Core principles

Technology with principles.

Five commitments that guide how BanglaChain Foundation researches, builds and governs the network — carried through from the Foundation's founding charter.

01

Transparency & accountability

Open processes, open governance, open code — by default and at every layer of the stack.

02

Ethical innovation

Technology is a means, never an end. Each design decision is weighed against its human consequence.

03

Decentralized governance

Distributed authority, plural voices — infrastructure communities can co-steward rather than a single operator controlling it.

04

Sustainability

Long-horizon engineering: ecological, economic, institutional. Built to last decades, not quarters.

05

Technological autonomy

Reducing dependence on opaque, foreign-controlled systems — supporting local innovation and ownership of the stack.

Research focus

What the research covers.

The Foundation's technical research prioritizes the robustness, security and privacy of the network at its foundational level.
