Accessibility Statement.
BanglaChain Foundation wants banglachain.org to be usable by the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities. This page describes our target standard, what we've built so far, where we fall short today, and how to reach us if something doesn't work for you.
1. Our commitment
BanglaChain Foundation believes that open, sovereign digital infrastructure has to be genuinely open to everyone — including people who use assistive technology, navigate by keyboard, rely on screen readers or screen magnification, or need reduced motion. We are committed to making banglachain.org conform to Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2 (WCAG 2.2 AA), and to keep improving it as the site and the wider BanglaChain project grow.
This statement applies to banglachain.org. It does not cover third-party sites we link to (such as banglachainfoundation.com, or our presence on X, LinkedIn, Discord and Facebook), which are outside our control and may have their own accessibility standards and statements.
2. Conformance status
This Website has been built with WCAG 2.2 Level AA as its target conformance standard. As with most websites, conformance is an ongoing effort rather than a single finished state: the features listed in Section 3 have been implemented as part of our normal development practice, but we have not yet commissioned an independent, formal WCAG 2.2 AA audit of the site, so we describe our status honestly as partially conformant — meaning some parts of the site meet the standard fully, and others, listed in Section 4, do not yet.
3. Accessibility features on this site
These are concrete measures already built into banglachain.org's shared design system, used consistently across every page.
- Skip-to-content link. Every page opens with a "Skip to content" link, the first focusable element, so keyboard and screen-reader users can bypass repeated navigation.
- Visible keyboard focus. Every interactive element — links, buttons, form fields, the language picker, the Layer‑1 stack explainer, the ecosystem diagram — shows a clear focus outline when navigated by keyboard, and every custom interactive widget is fully operable without a mouse.
- Semantic structure & heading hierarchy. Pages use landmark elements (header, nav, main, footer) and a logical heading order, so assistive technology users can navigate by structure rather than by scanning visually.
- Descriptive labels for interactive controls. The mobile menu, theme toggle, and language switcher (built as an accessible listbox with search) all carry appropriate ARIA roles, labels, and expanded/selected states.
- Text alternatives for meaningful graphics. Informational diagrams, such as the Foundation emblem and the office location map, carry a descriptive label; purely decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology so they don't add noise.
- Reduced-motion support. If you have "reduce motion" turned on at the operating-system level, the site automatically disables its decorative animations — the particle background, magnetic button effects, scroll-triggered reveals, and the orbiting or pulsing elements in various diagrams.
- Light & dark themes. The site offers both a light and a dark theme, built with attention to text-to-background contrast, either following your system preference automatically or set manually with the theme toggle.
- Responsive layout. Pages reflow for different screen sizes and orientations and remain usable at increased browser zoom levels.
4. Known limitations
In the interest of an honest statement rather than a marketing claim, here is where we know the site currently falls short.
- Complex conceptual diagrams. Visualizations such as the Bangladesh network map, the Layer‑1 stack diagram, and the ecosystem wheel simplify complex ideas into decorative graphics. Where possible we provide an adjacent text description, but the full visual detail of these diagrams is not individually exposed to screen readers.
- Machine-translated content. Choosing a language other than English runs the page through a third-party machine translation service (see our Privacy Policy). This translation is automatic and not reviewed by us, and it can occasionally affect reading order, control labelling, or overall clarity in the target language. The English version is always the authoritative one.
- Third-party dependencies. Fonts, the translation widget, and the decorative particle-animation library are loaded from external providers (Google and jsDelivr) and are outside our direct control; we cannot guarantee they meet the same accessibility bar we hold the rest of the site to.
- No independent audit yet. As noted in Section 2, our WCAG 2.2 AA conformance has been assessed through our own development and review process, not a third-party accessibility audit.
5. Ongoing efforts
Accessibility is an ongoing practice, not a one-time checklist. As BanglaChain and the Foundation's programs grow — including future developer documentation, a network explorer, and other tools referenced on the Developers page — we intend to apply the same accessibility standard to new features, and to revisit older pages as we learn more about how real visitors use the site, including people using assistive technology.
6. Reporting an issue
If you encounter an accessibility barrier anywhere on banglachain.org, please tell us — we want to know about it and fix it. To help us diagnose the issue quickly, please include, where you can:
- The web address (URL) of the page where you ran into the problem;
- A short description of what happened and what you expected instead;
- The browser and, if relevant, the assistive technology (screen reader, switch device, magnification tool, etc.) you were using.
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 5 business days.
7. Further steps
If a specific page or feature is not accessible to you, we will try to provide the information or service you need through an alternative means — for example by email or phone, using the details above — while we work on a fix.
If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility report, you may pursue any further steps or rights available to you under applicable law.
